DASAKOM 48

STANZA 1

You, mridoodara, soft-bellied, praised   by devas,
    as daamodara, , with daama,
rope on belly,saw two kakubha
   trees nearby.
Stanza 2
Nalakoobara and Manigreeva, sons of  Kubera,
     having obtained wealth,
through worshipping Lord Shiva, neglected
You , for a long time.
Stanza 3
Once Naarada, Your great devotee,
saw them, sporting in the Ganges
drunk and naked,in the company of many
        merrily singing girls,
Stanza 4
The sage said, when he saw them,
even after seeing the girls hurriedly wearing
clothes out of fear, continuing , blind  to the outside,
         “ without peace, whence happiness!.”.
Stanza 5
He cursed them, saying, “ may you become two kakubha trees,
           and remain so
until you see God, “, and they, instantly becoming the kakubha trees,
waited eagerly for the sight of You.
Stanza 6
As You, went slowly without hesitation, the heavy mortar got caught crosswise
         between the two trees,
which, being dried up, and shriveled,
          so long crumbled to piceces.
Stanza 7
When the trees broke, there emerged
             the two Ganndhavas,
emitting bright iight all around
              and prayed to You,
with great hymns
                of praise.
Stanza 8
Devotees of other gods gradually come to You,
              these devotees of Shiva,
came to Your feet, by the sage’s kindness
             departed, praying for
great devotion
              to You.
Stanza 9
Then hearing the horrible sound of the breaking trees,
             hurried all the gopas
worried, what happened, Nanda freed You,
            who gives liberation to all,
as Your mother looked on,
             greatly ashamed.
Stanza 10
Saying that,” by God’s grace,
            our boy has been saved”,
the gopas took You home,
            kindly save me from all
my diseases,
            my Lord!.
